Citrix NetScaler Moves for Solid State Drives for Future MPX 5500, 7500 and 9500 Expeditions -

Citrix continually improves its products to ensure the best customer satisfaction and reliability. To further improve the reliability and robustness of NetScaler hardware appliances, as well as delivery of components ensured, NetScaler moves to Solid State Drives (SSD) hard drives (HDD). From February 20, 2012, NetScaler MPX 5500, 7500 and 9500 will begin shipping with the SSD. NetScaler MPX 5500 will come with 128GB SSD and MPX 7500 and MPX 9500 models will come with 256GB no change in the price list associated with this conversion. Citrix will continue to support MPX 5500, 7500 and 9500 models that have hard drives. See FAQ Citrix sales and channel partners to obtain information about the RMA process and details.

Although the SSD capacity is less than that of current hard drives, the conversion will have no impact on the use that isessentially storage used for log files . The existing hard drives used in MPX appliances massively more capacity than necessary. The largest hard drive capacity is only used because smaller units are not available. SSDs have capacity and that has been verified both analytically and empirically.
