How to Enable Connection Watchdog / Keep Alive

The activation of this safety function on its DDWRT VPN router very easy. First, go to DDWRT control panel (usually 192.168.1.1). Click the "Administration" tab, then click on the "Keep Alive" tab. Under WDS / Connection Watchdog select activate. In the meantime, 360 seconds is a big gap to verify connectivity. For the IP address, enter IP Google "8.8.8.8" and click the Apply Settings button at the bottom of the screen.

Here, Keep Alive is now active. With this setting enabled every 360 seconds, the router checks the Google server (8.8.8.8). If it receives a response, no action is taken. If the router is unable to communicate with the server, the router is rebooted immediately thus restoring the VPN connection on the router.
