It has been a while since I wrote a blog on the Citrix Web site, so I thought I share this bit of info with you time to look for a similar example of "How to install and configure Receiver 3.1 for Windows manually on a master VM without Merchandising server."
I had already deployed CloudGateway StoreFront Express with my services on XenApp 6.5 server and necessary:
- Single Sign On for CloudGateway Express my Windows 7 virtual machines
- I also wanted to "shop" for. be set automatically for all users.
- I also wanted the ability for users to add another store manually if needed to.
- I do not want to use Merchandising Server in my laboratory.
so it is here:
I done the following on my master Windows 7 machine. Download CitrixReceiver.exe 3.1 for Windows from the Citrix download site (I 'uses an admin) and save it on your local disk but not yet running. You can find it here
From the command line change directory to the download location above and run the following command:
CitrixReceiver.exe / includeSSON STORE0 = " AppStore http s : // server / Citrix / StoreName / resources / v2; on; Apps on XenApp " (one line)
UPDATE! 02/02/12: Please see comment below re Ian: preferred URL for the store, which I have not tested yet, but I am assured is the preferred method for the format URL. My example above works well on the internal network, but if the end point with external receiver is or is external, tags, etc., will not work, so here is the example updated the following command:
CitrixReceiver.exe / includeSSON STORE0 = " AppStore http s : // server / Citrix / storename / discovery on; Apps on XenApp " (one line)
OK, so italic bits can be changed. AppStore is just a name, change server for the host name of your server CloudGateway Express (StoreFront server) and storename the default is "store", but change to whatever you called the store server, and the last bit is a description of the store
you can also add other stores by adding the following after the above :.
store1 = "BackUpAppStore; https: // server / Citrix / storename1 / resources / v2; on; BackUp Applications Store on XenApp"
you can also change the "on" to "off" if you want the store added but disabled for users. You can set up to 10 if you wish, but for most of us I think one or two will suffice!
However, if like me you have no certificates and you must test with HTTP and not HTTPS for your store, you must also add the following registry key after installation. (Keep in mind Citrix recommend using HTTPS or passwords will be sent in clear text, it doesnt matter to me, as this is only a test lab.)
- HLKM Software Citrix AuthManager
- Add SZ value "ConnectionSecurityMode" make "one"
If you also want users to be able to add more stores and manually record their passwords and change the core values of the following registry. (These also disappear if you must uninstall and reinstall the receiver, be warned!)
- HLKM Software Citrix Dazzle
- Change " AllowAddStore "value" a "
- Change" AllowSavePwd "value" a "
- You must exit and restart the receiver.
when it was over, I just took a snapshot of the Windows 7 machine Master, and ran a "update disk" for my Windows 7 to push this catalog all my virtual machines. (I'm using MCS here ...)
I hope this helps you, once its up and running, it looks great and works like a charm, I also like much that dazzle , i mean "self-service" functionality is now built directly into the receiver 3.1.
