Command Center with its feature set boasts many features that are very useful in managing mulitple devices. One of the hidden features that I want to bring to the spotlight in this blog is to have 2 levels of conditions for generating alarms
Use Cases -. MyCPUThreshold
In this case, you can create a threshold of 80% lets say the threshold value, then check if the threshold is greater than or equal to 80% for more than 30 minutes. We usually create threshold and define the action that email notification to warn the administrator. But with this the time limit setting function, it just adds another layer of filtering of information that grows Command Center a level of maneuverability before allowing you to get a notification just the right time.
How to configure this:
- Create a threshold under Reports >> >> Add Thresholds Threshold
- in this case, we created a CPU usage threshold called "MyCPUThreshold"
- with this, we define the first requirement of 80% and above the value of CPU usage threshold.
Now, to set the second condition to generate alarms, create filters.
- to do this, go to Fault >> Alarms >> Alarm Triggers >> Add Filter
- When adding a filter, select Categories as threshold
- Enter alarm [Age that when you want that the threshold to trigger alarm. This means that if you set 30 minutes the alarm age, the alarm is triggered when the CPU usage is 80% or above uniforms 30 minutes.
- With this, you can also set a notification by e-mail on the trigger the alarm.
Hopefully this is a good use case for adding more custom alarms to add a notch higher on manageability ease!
