Follow Me data that mean for you -

Since Citrix Synergy in May, we talked a bit about access to secure files and data. It is an important issue given our heritage in delivering business applications to any device, anywhere. If you can not get access to your files and data so why access to applications? We've been busy since last May, not building vaporware that some of our competitors, but in fact the construction products and solutions, and secure access of data was in the lead.

As you know probably now Citrix recently bought ShareFile. ShareFile provides secure enterprise data solutions and managed and file sharing. This morning, we announced how this solution will be integrated with Citrix products and developed to create a transparent solution, centrally managed and accessible way for any company to manage employee data.

Although there are a number of available data solutions based on Citrix technology ShareFile it is one that is near and dear to my heart: follow me data on Citrix Receiver. Receiver already provides the single, secure sign on access to all Citrix application and desktop infrastructure from any device, anywhere. It is therefore natural that expanded access to end users in their work files and data from the receiver as well. More importantly, while viewing files is a factor, creating and editing work files is another thing. With the new follow me end users Receivers data can use either virtual or local applications to access and modify applications and synchronize files and save files working and activated data.

In the short term, our plan is to provide follow me data capabilities in Citrix Receiver in the coming months - with access to ShareFile existing infrastructure. This will dramatically improve the experience of the end user and integrate files and data beyond simple Windows Explorer access. Using existing ShareFile solution means that end users can access their local drive, network drive and Sharepoint files on the go seamlessly through the receiver. As with all things Citrix Receiver the new capacity will be freely available for end users via their app store or download from the Citrix Web site. in the longer term Citrix will enable a rich set of features and capabilities to enable grain controls for IT administrators demand to better manage security and compliance. At the end of the day, no matter what features we provide fresh it will always be up to decide which features to deploy. This way, even the most conservative organizations and conscious computer security can decide how, when and if they want end users to have access to internal documents. By integrating the control as part of Citrix CloudGateway - will happen in the first half of next year - IT administrators can decide how much access to give an end user based on the platform type, the location and purpose of the end user. For example, if the end user is inside the secure network or working from a home PC, they can get full access to their records. Conversely, if they are outside of the work network, on the road or access to files from one device to the tablet, they can get more severe restrictions. yet taken a final user may be allowed full access to their files with local publishing rights from a tablet within the network, but only access via a virtualized application to the outside the corporate network. All of these checks will be delivered as an integrated component of the Unified CloudGateway App Controller solution.

As I said follow me data updates to Citrix Receiver will happen in the coming months. Updating Citrix CloudGateway will occur in the first half of next year.
