Can you Hack Siri to do some real work with Citrix Receiver? -

So far, I have found Siri be helpful to set up alarms and asking when my first meeting is on the way job. It is also cool enough for demos and entertaining others, although many Android users are happy to show their Vlingo app did that for a while. More significantly, Siri demonstrated the potential power of voice to enhance mobile experience, but not much real work ... again.

For those wondering if and when Siri can be used with XenApp hosted app yes and now (and you do not need to hack ... ). Yesterday, Citrix announced a new Mobile Application SDK for building or adaptation of Windows applications to look and feel like native mobile applications. The new API also provide the ability to use the native phone capability such as GPS camera and telephone calls. The new Citrix Mobility Pack (CMP) that runs on XenApp 6.5 also includes features, including an automatic pop-up keyboard that works like a native application with the last receiver. So it is now possible to build an application that is securely hosted in a data or cloud center and get all the benefits with only native Citrix Receiver installed on the device.

Video shows Siri accepting voice commands, translating natively text, then send the encrypted text GoldenGate Secure Email app hosted on XenApp 6.5. This should provide a good example of what can be done to provide an application that works in any real security. In reality, you can test yourself, even on applications unmodified windows with older versions of existing XenApp. Simply activate the local text, press the icon / Mic Siri in the keyboard, wait for the text to appear and press Send.

If you just want to try, you can download the free receptor, register for an account and try DemoCloud. Talk to Siri and get a taste of what mobile voice will be able to do it for real work.
