As mentioned in the blog of Peter Blum, XenClient 2.1 published on the Web. Many of you may use XenClient 2 in your environment and if you are, we now provide an easy way for you to upgrade the XenClient client hypervisor 2 2.1 The function is called "over-the-air setting level. " This means that we have allowed simple and secure improvements XenClient software from a Synchronizer or another Web server. This will enable end users to upgrade to XenClient 2.1 without booting the CD and means that IT can easily deploy new versions of XenClient and corrections in their environment from a central location.
Below is a step by step guide case for upgrading XenClient 2 to 2.1. This facility will be available for XenClient versions go ahead
Step 1 :. Update your Synchronizer for XenClient 2 to 2.1
- It is important to upgrade the Synchronizer 2.1 before updating client devices XenClient 2.1
- These steps are covered in the guide Synchronizer admin
Step 2: Place the update file XenClient 2.1 in an HTTP location
- Find the packages.main folder (Figure 1) is located on the disk install XenClient (once you've burned the iso disk) on the root.
- Copy the packages.main record [ in a place of http that is accessible by your users. Remove any password requirements to access the folder and allow directory browsing

Step 3 :. Download the XenClient 2.1 software update
- On your XenClient device, press Ctrl-0 to take you to the user interface called XenClient Citrix Receiver for XenClient. Click the System icon on the top right of the screen (Figure 2)
- Click software in the left menu bar
- in Updating the software , enter the location of http packages.main folder populated in step 2
- Notice in the screenshot below, the current XenClient version is 2.0

- Click Check for Update . You'll see a spinner and then see the following screen (Figure 3) letting you know that there is a newer version of XenClient available and asking if you want to download.
- Click Download

- you will see a message under updating the software which lets you know that the download was successful (Figure 4) and restart your machine to apply the update.

Step 4: Restart XenClient
- Select power on the top left of Citrix Receiver for XenClient (Figure 5)
- You will see the option of [Restart. This will restart the XenClient platform and apply XenClient 2.1 changes downloaded from the hypervisor

- You will see a dialog box telling you that updates are applied (Figure 6)

- Note that the XenClient version now reads 2.1 (Figure 7)

Step 5: Last level XenClient Tools on all VMs
- After the upgrade to XenClient 2.1 is complete, uninstall (2.0) existing XenClient Tools from any existing VM of the final device.
- Open Control Panel the guest VM and uninstall tools Citrix XenClient
- restart the VM
- Then, reinstall the new tools of XenClient (2.1) by opening Computer of Start Menu in the guest VM. Double-click on XenClient CD
- Click Configuration (figure eight) and follow the instructions (to install all components)
- reboot.

- Once this is complete, when you go to Panel control of the VM guest you'll see that Citrix XenClient Tools version 2.1.0 will read as (Figure 9)
- please note that all Step 5 will typically be done once by an office administrator on 'centrally managed image. These changes are then delivered to users when they connect to their Synchronizer for XenClient.
