Our announcement on April 3 that we will submit CloudStack to the Apache Software Foundation has generated much of the fodder industry around open source - no surprise since we had 60+ industry partners supporting new door. And although the comments in the Twittersphere were heated at times, it is certainly a useful and necessary debate as we move into the cloud era. After all, the elevation of CloudStack into a full open source Apache project will only accelerate the delivery of a proven, powerful platform agnostic hypervisor that helps any construction customer real clouds Amazon style. But do not take my word for it, the always provocative Christian Reilly provides summaries of my favorite to date about why the news is important. And of course, this week there are many other conversations taking place at the Summit of the design and the OpenStack Conference. This week did better with the news that CloudStack was accepted into the Apache Incubator. . If you want to know more about the next steps of the project now that it's "official" visit the blog of Kevin Kluge for details.
