As such, there is a critical balance between providing what the organization needs and what workers need, which makes desktop virtualization a useful tool to ensure information security.

Citrix conducted a global survey to get an independent view on current security strategies and planned adoption of desktop virtualization, the drivers and benefits and today I am pleased to announce that the white Paper of the survey is now online.

research shows that in addition to the more familiar advantages of desktop virtualization, security has now joined these benefits as a factor key in the decision to implement desktop virtualization. In fact, 92 percent of those organizations that have desktop virtualization in place by the end of 2013 are to adopt in order to improve information security.

It is also gratifying to see that a large number (86 percent) of the decision of senior IT managers believe that desktop virtualization offers a strategic approach to improving the safety of the information, regardless of whether they intend to use desktop virtualization within their own organization. As we encourage people to rethink security, it is important not to keep the resolution of ad hoc issues, but take this strategic view.

In addition to creating a more secure desktop environment, desktop virtualization provides capabilities in infrastructure, as well as a means to facilitate and improve compliance (0 percent). The research also showed that senior IT decision makers see as very effective in protecting against threats (0 percent).

Information security and compliance are priorities now higher than ever. Organizations around the world are focusing on the need to be as agile and efficient as possible. According to research and our own experience, desktop virtualization is the only technology that enables companies to achieve both goals.

The research was carried out independently by a third party, Vanson Bourne. The search results are based on the responses of 1,100 IT decision makers in 11 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States. Three quarters of respondents were organizations of more than 1,000 employees, one-quarter were 500-999 employees organizations.
