Xen.org press: XCP 1.1, Xen 4.1.2 and 4.0.3
In recent weeks the Xen.org community developer released a number of new open source releases:
- XCP 1.1 released a little there over a week: XCP provides the Xen hypervisor with support for a range of systems operating guests, including Windows® and Linux ® network and storage solution, the Xen API management tools in a single tested installable image. We shall soon see XCP 1.1 support CloudStack.
- Xen and Xen 4.1.2 4.0.3 maintenance release have been published today, featuring bug fixes and small improvements to the hypervisor.
Xen support is reintroduced into Ubuntu 11.10 (in beta) in Fedora 16 (in beta) and was in the main line of Debian for a while. These Linux distributions use all the components of Xen Linux 3 kernel, which are also called pvops. Also note, that OpenSUSE 12.1 has just released its first release candidate, which also support Xen. In this context, I want to congratulate January Beulich (Novell) to be elected as a new committer Xen. Of course, Citrix XenServer 6 only sent it a few weeks ago, Oracle VM 3.0 and earlier
Events. Asia XenSummit, Nov. 2-3, Seoul, Korea
Less than two weeks to go in Asia XenSummit, where the developer community and Xen research discusses the latest developments, research and where the Xen hypervisor will go. The summit is hosted sponsored by the University of Korea and Samsung and covers some interesting topics. Korea is the home of ARM Xen project, so we will naturally hear much about Xen on ARM. I am particularly happy to " Xen @ Google " talk. With the Xen hypervisor supplying 0% of the public cloud, there will be cloud-related content such as " Deep Dive into OpenStack " and " Skylark: Easy Cloud Computing " .
Events: LinuxCon Brazil, 17-18 November, São Paulo, Brazil
Xen.org helps run the Discovery Days Cloud @ LinuxCon Brazil, 17 to 18 November 2011. We do this by partnership with Citrix, Dell and Rackspace. The track of this program will focus on projects open source cloud computing, but there will also be some content related Xen. I am also pleased to announce that Sheng Liang, CTO, Cloud Platforms Group at Citrix will give a speech at LinuxCon Brazil and give an in-depth discourse on Powered Open Source IaaS Clouds .
