Today at Citrix Synergy, Citrix announced that it opens ShareFile to create an extensible platform for sharing business data in a wide range of applications, devices and services. The new platform "Follow-Me-Data", it will be easy for third party developers and vendors to incorporate common data services like search, share, sync, secure and wipe into their solutions through a set of open APIs remotely.
ShareFile perfectly matches the Follow-Me-Data vision of nowhere, a permanent data access and collaboration. The ShareFile service will continue to make it easy for businesses of all sizes to securely store, sync and share business documents and files, both inside and outside the company. Our storage capacity in centralized cloud allows users to share files across multiple devices and access them anywhere, hence "Follow-Me-Data."
The Citrix customers will be able to enjoy ShareFile as a standalone service in a browser on a desktop as a separate application and Microsoft Outlook. Sharefile capacity will also be available as a feature "Workspaces" in the product of collaboration GoToMeeting. Customers can expect to see this feature arriving in early 2012 no additional cost for GoToMeeting customers. Cool, right?
