IIT Alumni event last night at Google was coming-out party for the core technology Mobile - access instant one-touch to the most relevant information . Much of the company is the culmination of two previous ITI events exploring how the mobile device could be used more effectively. This is a great justification for these types of meetups with, real, tangible results. Here are my notes on the event from the perspective of Citrix Startup Accelerator
Chandra Tekwani (basic CEO Mobile) showed us how the small screen of the smartphone brings us back to the time of the early PC -. One screen / application. All very well, but there are good reasons why we now use windowing systems on our office; why we like to have multiple applications open at once. Ultimately, it is up to our workflow - the fact that most of our tasks are not served by a single application. To do our work, we have to open many applications, this is just not easy on the small device screen.
Enter "one-touch instant access" - this approach recognizes that there are specific task flow associated with particular roles. So for the sales staff, there are meetings with prospects and customers. For the healthcare professional, there are appointments with patients. In each case, the task centered tools can be created using this context to extract all the necessary information at a time or place.
first mobile basic tasks facing mobile app is on sale crystal (iPhone and Android), a tool for sales professionals who provide instant information about each meeting from your calendar, view your CRM , meeting participants profiles of your social media and new perspective.
More applications will soon follow, using the interface of the mobile database application and correlation engine. These will include HealthCrystal and RemedyCrystal.
There was an excellent speech Sumit Dhawan, vice president and GM of the unity of the mobile business and Citrix cloud, on current trends and opportunities in the industry for startups. He concentrated on our workstyles evolution and consolidation in the cloud emphasized that both the expectations of the platform and the end user move, which brings a world of startup options.
Although Bill (basic Mobile Advisor) talked about his experiences with a major telco - that the adoption of tablets and smartphones was satisfactory, but what makes these devices in the enterprise tools necessary general custom applications for end users. There is a yawning gap for general tools that provide information on multiple applications.
Jason Ford (director of corporate sales Citrix) strongly recommended the base product Mobile Sales crystal. SalesCrystal :.
- is a great productivity tool for sales - saves hours of research every week
- Maintains reps more honest about data entry in Salesforce
- to the great sales representative fully plan the week ahead
- makes the adoption of discussions on mobility in the business much simpler. Discussing mobile device management in-the-big can scare people. Bring the discussion to a decision of productivity is much more treatable.
Sales teams are usually being hard running, and must be flexible to new events and interruptions coming through across the board. This tool allows them to see exactly what they need to know, as it happens, even if a meeting is added to the schedule at the last minute. Jason recommended this technology to any company with a sales team or mobile workers. Even within the corporate campus (eg Google), each worker attends meetings at different locations on campus and just needs time information about its meetings.
Raj Shah, director of engineering for Google India, spoke of all the ways that Google is to make mobile internet. He used the term "find ways to exploit the people contributing to the cloud" to describe how Google Maps takes advantage of the individual feedback and location of traffic to make cards better. Raj note that our mobile devices are much more powerful than the super computers he used in 1978; he talked about personalization, about circles and personalized recommendations. He mentioned the use of the camera to search for the real world and a future in which the smart car drives his car and share his interpretation of the world with all the other cars on the road, bringing the cloud to the car.
The evening ended with a roundtable on investment trends -. with partners Venrock Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Blumberg Capital and Citrix Startup Accelerator
In all a great graduation event for mobile core technology and team, with a circle community that contributed to the hypothesis and needs addressed by mobile Core. mobile core is to solve real-world problems, making the mobile device really works for the company and more
