There are some weeks I wrote about some of the new features in XenDesktop 5.6 and System Center 2012 configuration Manager that simplifies configuration management across physical and virtual desktops. We want to make it easy for administrators to use the same tools for image management, configuration management and compliance monitoring for both their physical and virtual desktop environments. It just makes sense. Why the directors of the force to use a dedicated set of tools when they have already invested time and money implementing and developing best practices using their existing tools?
Certainly there are a number of components and the management tasks that are unique to a virtualized environment, and provide tools such as Desktop Studio and Desktop Director to treat them. But there is much that is and must be managed consistently across physical and virtual assets. By plugging in Configuration Manager, we recognize and support this need.
But what followed, "two days," said management needs assistance operators and network operations centers and IT management research analysis data to help manage service levels and ability? If anything, organizations need to further consolidation monitor more than they do for "day" management and configuration. To support these needs, we are pleased to work closely with ComTrade, the leading provider of Citrix Management Packs for Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager.
ComTrade developed a range of management packs that provide IT services with a broad and deep insight, through Operations Manager 2012 in what is happening in their Citrix environment, including XenDesktop, XenApp, Provisioning services and the components of the Web interface. This includes:
- discovery of the automated deployment topology
- to check the health of robust Service
- followed by the registration office and alert
- historical trend reports for logon, supply and delivery of applications
of course, all these links as part of System Center Operations manager and when it is combined with other management packs for things like Windows server and Hyper-V hosts, storage and network infrastructure provides a single pane of glass in which to monitor not only the virtualization software components but after deployment architecture end to your environment. An administrator can easily switch alerts review from Citrix software for the analysis of potential infrastructure problems underlying without having to jump between multiple tools, reducing the resolution time. In addition, that all Operation Manager alert in sheets and robust reporting capabilities and integration with System Center Orchestrator, which allows alerts to spread to other third party monitoring solutions. Again, it is to build on the existing surveillance infrastructure.
So if you're looking at your current or future deployment of XenDesktop or XenApp and wondering how you will monitor, you should take a look at the ComTrade solution. They actually pretty easy to do with a new free 60 day trial available here.
