CloudConnectors NetScaler - The future is a hybrid -

"The industry moves from the PC era to the era of cloud" is a common phrase heard in the corridors of Citrix these days. Some parts of the industry are much faster than others. and the part that moves the fastest is the applications themselves. by this I do not mean "applications are moving to cloud data centers. "well, in fact many of them are running in the IaaS cloud data centers, but it is a side effect of the larger trend.

on the contrary, I mean, today, we expect the applications themselves to behave as a service based on the cloud. We want access anytime, from any device, anywhere in the world. and we always want the current content and applications up to date. This means that applications need almost always be online and connected. And of course we want them fast.

These are the last bits that indicate change. Because once the application is always available, always connected, and always up to date we stop to think of it as an "application" and start thinking like a "service"; something that is always "right there" and we can take advantage of whenever we need. And it is not only the social cost media, games, new media, etc. applications that were accessing our iPhones / Androids / tablets. It is also good number of SaaS applications that we use for work ... we're also access our iPhones / Androids / tablets, etc. In fact, many of us begin to see the "office" (and its data) as another service that can be accessed anytime, anywhere, on any device.

This transition "applications of the PC era" to "cloud services era" is driving fundamental changes in the underlying distribution infrastructure, we intend to ensure the availability, performance and security. Historically, if we think of the application delivery infrastructure, it can be roughly divided into two types:

  1. onsite products - such as application delivery controllers or devices WAN optimization
  2. off-site services - such as content delivery networks

in general, these two different solutions were as they did their thing, they are not not really in the way of the other "two ships passing in the night." But nor do they do anything to help each other. However, we believe that the full optimization of service delivery to the growing cloud of age require two different solutions work together. This is exactly what we mentioned when we announced work with Cotendo last June, and what we do with NetScaler CloudConnector, we announced at Synergy Barcelona today.

CloudConnector NetScaler provides networking solution 'hybrid', covering both devices NetScaler on-site services and off-site managed. In essence, what a NetScaler CloudConnector does is prolong the presence of NetScaler four walls of the data center all the way to the edge of the Internet. By doing this, we actually put the power of NetScaler within milliseconds of end users of any cloud services era NetScaler is fronting

Accelerate the performance of the cloud era service provides an example :.

  • service has users all over the world, so that the use of a CDN to get as close to the Internet as possible edge is logical
  • However, since we want the content of the service to be as current and relevant as possible, the service is probably using things like personalization and location-based services to drive dynamically generated content
  • dynamically generated content is generally regarded as "inconsistent" with a CDN, as they are traditionally a CDN is not content cache at the edge. Dynamic content is quite difficult to cache.

The NetScaler CloudConnector for CDN addresses this fundamental issue by establishing a secure connection and highly optimized directly between the data center and PoPs-de-acceleration Cotendo (PoP) at the edge of the Internet. Coordination between the CDN and Site NetScaler infrastructure allows the use of sophisticated symmetric techniques such as advanced TCP optimisations, compression and data deduplication to run between the data center and the edge of the Internet. This allows all dynamic content that can not simply be cached to speed along the Internet anyway.

more strategic, coordinated with a presence both at the edge of the Internet and within the data center opens up a set of hybrid network services that do more than accelerate mobile services or web hosted w / in the data center. For example:

  • By optimizing the connection between the data center and the PoP closest data center of a SaaS provider, the same hybrid service can be used to accelerate access employee SaaS
  • applications
  • Have security capabilities of NetScaler SSL offloading as high speed, VPN termination and web application firewall at the edge of the Internet opens up a host of hybrid security services
  • combined HDX protocol consciousness with NetScaler security capabilities have interesting hybrid options networking solutions to optimize the delivery of virtualized desktops using the HDX protocol

course on infrastructure site and off-site managed services continue to operate independently of each other. But we believe that the hybrid networking services set the tone for what will be "best in class" distribution infrastructure in the coming era of cloud.
