06/06 - IPv6 is the official day when some large companies and ISPs make their transition to IPv6. Question has never been whether to make a transition to IPv6 but when and the time has come. Among the companies that show their commitment to IPv6 day are - Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Cisco. And among mobile IPv6 service providers Free Telecom, AT & T, Time Warner and Comcast. This does not mean that IPv4 is disabled -. It only means that now IPv6 with IPv4 will be used for production deployments
This was waiting to happen after decades of struggle between IPv4 trying to stretch her life and IPv6 is preparing for the big stage . Miss IPv4 address space is the most obvious reason why we need to move to IPv6, which offers virtually unlimited addresses for all our needs. Necessity gave birth to IPv6 - but decades of experience with IPv4 assured that IPv6 was designed to provide many other benefits. Some of the benefits of the transition to IPv6 are:
- simplified routing - better organized routing tables and the smaller ones are faster routing and better
- Treatment effective packages - simplified -tête IPv6 makes the treatment effective packages
- security - integrated support for IPSec
- new applications - unique IP addresses for each evaluation criterion provides the opportunity for many innovative applications
- facilitates network management - features such as address auto-configuration easy life brands for network administrators
despite all the benefits that come with IPv6 all organizations have an interest in this movement. Some key factors forcing organizations to make a transition to IPv6 are:
- To ensure connectivity IPv6 only clients
- To allow access to employees and partners on IPv6
- Do not be left behind when the world is moving forward
- Leverage technology to simplify and secure networks
now, the big question is how to make this move? Several technologies have been developed to meet the different needs of different networks as they plan their transition to IPv6. service providers, content providers and enterprises have difficulty embracing IPv6. Comcast chose to go dual-stack to provide IPv6 connectivity to customers, but Free Telecom selected 6rd. In addition, continuing to support IPv4 clients means that IPv4 and IPv6 will coexist for the foreseeable future.
So, what are the various transition technologies? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Yet there are still technologies in the process of stretching the life of IPv4. In this series of blog IPv6, we will explore various technologies and their use cases
Some "6" number: 6. e day of the 6 e months was selected as the IPv6 day. Not enough 6 - check this out: 06 + 06 + 12 = 24; 2 + 4 = 6
