Why do you still live in the cold? -

I'm not sure that's because I'm stuck in a plane on a runway Hartford Connecticut in last weeks snow storm or due to meet Florida Governor Rick Scott this week and listening to his convincing argument for companies to move to Florida.
It really made me wonder why so many people live in the cold when they are not required. As an escapee from New York, I can understand the southern movement and the many benefits, some economic some emotion;

immediate increase zero state income tax
No scraping ice off the windshield
hot water to beach
No full closet coats, boots, gloves, etc.
all year round outdoor activity ... without pain ..
No snow shoveling ..

Certainly, there are personal reasons to stay in the north on the basis of the family and other obligations but when it comes to work, more and more knowledge workers find they can work from anywhere. The work is where you go, but what you do. Companies are legitimately concerned about production and not punching a clock. The company does not need to move for you.
The tools available to work from anywhere is better than ever. virtual desktops, online meetings with video conferencing, document storage Cloud based and sharing. It is interesting to see how many people now prefer to attend office meetings thier vs walking down the hall of the actual meeting room. The only thing missing is the chat-room coffee and impromptu thinking. It is not quite the same as distance vs the office but he approaches all the time. And for millions of workers, it is already the norm.

I know many northerners say they like the change of seasons, blah, blah, blah, I used to say that too ...

So what your reason, why do you still live in the cold?

I'm out of range :-)
