Today, Cisco announced that they would sell the leading Citrix XenDesktop market within the Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (Cisco VXI). This is great news for a number of reasons and they all point to one undeniable fact: all Cisco and Citrix will usher in a whole new way for people to work (and play) wherever they are, using a device to almost anywhere on the planet.

Both companies are committed to deep integration across the data center, unified communications and collaboration, and a highly optimized network. Together we will offer the best virtual collaborative workspace rich multimedia experience, voice, video and applications-anywhere, anytime, on any device.
In fact, we cemented that in October 2011, when we announced our five years strategic alliance agreement. And when we made the announcement we were already execute against it when, at the same time, we told the world about the improvement of Cisco networking products with full support for Citrix HDX Technology. Now Cisco WAAS optimized for Citrix XenDesktop and has been verified as Citrix Ready.
This is above the optimizations we have already integrated into Cisco UCS in 2010. At the time, Citrix and Cisco have worked together to create service profiles for running XenDesktop on UCS. The Starter Kit allows customers to easily get started with the first 300 virtual desktops. An Expansion Kit allows customers to scale to thousands of workstations and other users in a modular fashion plug-and-play. Our customers have told us time and again that these preconfigured templates allowed them to start with the simple desktop virtualization and then expand with ease.
Thus, as we continue to examine each piece of the puzzle Citrix XenDesktop will be at the forefront of our joint strategy with Cisco. And customers should be really excited about it because Citrix XenDesktop is just getting better. You probably already know that in XenDesktop with FlexCast can deliver any type of desktop and application to meet 100% of the needs of your workers. The thing to remember here is ... it is not just VDI, but the ability to provide solutions for mobile workers, call centers, hospitals, universities, designers, and many others.
