Renesys confirmed a largely complete restoration of Syrian Internet yesterday morning from 2:32:10 p.m. to UTC (4:32 p.m. local time in Damascus).

The restoration was achieved as quickly and clearly as the problem: like a switch being thrown. Does that mean that we believe that the government (or opposition) threw the switch? Frankly, available data just does not support the attribution to this point, despite all the speculation.
The only way we'll know for sure will wait for a resolution of the conflict, at which point we'll hear from the people who know for sure: network engineers in Syria. We hope they are safe and we are eager to hear their stories firsthand.
