The Android platform has an integrated connection exceptional tool for PPTP VPN. While TorGuard OpenVPN application will offer a higher encryption, PPTP VPN provide quick and easy way to hide IP address. PPTP VPN service also does not seem to drain the battery as much as the OpenVPN tunnel resource heavy. Below you will find how to configure any Android device with a TorGuard PPTP VPN service.
Required Android VPN
For the PPTP connection, you will need to collect the following information before starting the setup process:
- VPN address (in the customer area under My services >> product Details)
- VPN credentials (Sent in your activation email)
once you have this information, you are ready to start implementing
Step 1 :. Access the wireless and network settings
VPN connections are created from the wireless and network settings window. To access this window, click the Menu button on your phone. When this menu appears ( Figure A ), press the button and wireless network settings. Press "VPN"

This menu might look a little different depending on the Android handset you are using; However, the wireless and network settings should be fairly universal.
One option lets you configure the VPN connection. On the next screen, tap the VPN Settings button
Step 2 :. Select PPTP for the VPN connection
Now press the Add VPN. The screen displays a list of different types of virtual private networks ( Figure C ). Touch the Add button to continue PPTP VPN

Step 3 :. Configure the VPN connection
In the next window ( Figure D ), there are four configurations, you can set
- VPN name: Add your VPN connection a name for the list. (Ie TorGuard Netherlands)
- Set VPN server: You will need to enter the VPN server's IP address you want to conenct. (Found in your activation email)
- Enable Encryption: .. This is set by default and should be left alone

When you press a configuration, a new window appears. Enter the required information for the configuration and click OK. (All configuration options windows will be similar in appearance and feel.)
Step 4: Connect to your VPN
Now that your VPN is established, it is time to connect. To do this, go back to the VPN list window ( Figure F ) and tap the VPN that you just created to make the connection.

once you enter your username and password, you will see a key icon in your notification area ( Figure G ) indicating that you are connected to a VPN.

sure to keep an eye on your VPN connections. You do not want to keep that connection open if you do not need
Step 5 :. Disconnect
Now that you know you can make the connection, you can disconnect by pulling down the slide of your notification, tapping the VPN connection, and then typing the name of the connection VPN to disconnect.
